At just six years old, Carmen took violin lessons from his aunt Muriel Carmen, a violinist in the Cleveland Orchestra. But destiny had other plans. Brush High School, Carmen was already playing piano and singing in rock bands. The Raspberries Era

In 1987, Carmen’s career took an unexpected turn when he contributed the song “Hungry Eyes” to the soundtrack of the blockbuster film “Dirty Dancing.” The song, a passionate duet with Deborah Gibson, perfectly captured the movie’s themes of love and desire, propelling it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  “Hungry Eyes” not only became one of Carmen’s signature songs but also introduced his music to a whole new generation of fans.

Eric Carmen’s life extended beyond the studio. His resilience and passion fueled collaborations with legends like Ringo Starr in the All-Starr Band. Despite personal challenges, including divorces and setbacks, he remained committed to his art. His marriage to Emmy award-winning newscaster Amy Murphy added a beautiful chapter to his story.
